Newhouse x Edelman Smithfield Corporate Narrative Evaluator Project

As part of a five-student team selected by Edelman and the Newhouse School, I helped create an AI-powered tool to analyze and compare the corporate narratives of private equity firms across websites, press releases, social media, and video.

Our project deliverables included four custom GPT tools tailored for strategic communication needs:

  • Narrative Evaluator – Assesses positioning, tone, and clarity of firm messaging.

  • SWOT Generator – Benchmarks firms and provides automated insight summaries.

  • Focus Group Simulator – (My lead contribution) Uses AI to emulate Gen Z and LP personas for qualitative message testing.

  • Content Creator – Writes owned media in each firm’s tone, using rubric-backed structure.

I played a key role in content curation, prompt engineering, and testing for the Focus Group Simulator. I also contributed to the overall narrative analysis framework and presentation design.

Presentation Milestones:

  • NYC Edelman Office – Presented the tool live to Edelman Smithfield executives.

  • NYC AMM Program Trip – Delivered a solo presentation to a professional audience.

  • Lockheed Martin x SU Visit – Presented to a visiting innovation team on campus.

  • Newhouse Impact Symposium – Co-led the presentation and later moderated my team in a panel format before faculty, peers, and guests.

This project showcased the potential of AI-human collaboration in corporate PR strategy and marked a milestone in my application of generative AI for communications.
